Thomas A. Wimsett, Founder and Chairman
Tom Wimsett is the Founder and Chairman of Wimsett & Company, a payment card industry advisory firm based in Louisville, KY. Wimsett is also an operating partner of Thompson Street Capital Partners (TSCP), a St. Louis, MO based private equity firm. Through his partnership with TSCP, Wimsett serves as Chairman of ControlScan, an Atlanta based payment compliance, network and managed security services firm, and as a Board Director of Revenue Management Solutions (RMS), an Oklahoma City based electronic payment reconciliation and revenue management solutions firm for healthcare providers. In addition, Wimsett is an independent Board Director for Jack Henry & Associates (NASDAQ: JKHY), a leading provider of core and complementary technology platforms enabling financial institutions to process transactions, automate business processes, & manage mission critical information.
Wimsett has over 35 years of payments industry experience, having begun his career with National Processing Company (NYSE:NAP) in 1983. From 1998 to 2002 he served as NAP’s President & CEO and added over $1.5 billion in market value under his leadership. In 2003, Wimsett formed Iron Triangle Payment Systems (ITPS) in conjunction with Chicago based private equity firm GTCR. He served as Chairman and CEO until 2010 when the company was sold to Vantiv (NYSE: VNTV) for over $620 million. Wimsett has actively served as a director or advisory board member of numerous payment industry organizations including: MasterCard, ETA, Visa, Discover Card, and NACHA.
Wimsett is also on the Board of Advisors for the University of Louisville’s College of Business and serves as Chairman of the Catholic Education Foundation board for the Archdiocese of Louisville. Wimsett holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Louisville and attended graduate school at the University of Texas in El Paso. Tom lives in Bardstown, Kentucky with his wife Rhonda.
